An example of a backflow assembly. What is "backflow"
It’s just like it sounds:  the water is flowing in the opposite direction from its normal flow.  With the direction of flow reversed, due to a change in pressure, backflow can allow contaminants to enter water systems through cross-connections. A cross-connection is a piping arrangement which can allow water to be contaminated if a backflow condition occurs.

Who should install and test my backflow assemblies?
Northern Illinois Backflow licensed Cross-Connection Control Device experts have the skills and experience to both install and test your assemblies?

How often should my backflow assembly be tested?
Each assembly is tested and certified both at the time of installation and is required to be tested annually.

How does Northern Illinois Backflow differ from other backflow prevention companies?
Unlike other backflow prevention companies, NIB also offers our clients normal day to day plumbing services as well. We have full knowledge and expertise in both aspects.
